Cragside Run
This run was part of the Walworth Castle Weekend jointly put on by Northants
and Tyne Tees, with trips to Cragside House, Beamish open air museum and Whitby.
I opted for the saturday Cragside run and lucked out with excellent weather.
Cragside was the home of the Armstrong family (he of Armstrong-Siddeley fame),
and was the first house in England to be lit by hydro-electric power. It's very
arts-and-crafts/William Morris/Pre-Raphealite, so if you're into that stuff,
well worth a visit.
Be warned - the grounds are very steep. They don't call it "cragside"
for nothing.
Ready for the off at Walworth Castle.
Passing through Hexham.
Parked up at cragside.
The main gate at Cragside House. You drive straight through it to do the
"grounds drive".
The gorge and bridge below the house.
Looking up at Cragside.
Alec Morecambe (hope I remembered that right) on the grounds drive. It'll be
nice when the Rhododendrons are properly out.
